The design of this limited-edition vase is meant to be and to feel like a celebration, the celebration of the 150 years of Topazio. Its overall shape can be seen as a firework in the sky, with one firework exploding after the other.  its shape and movement is also reminiscent of superimposed Champagne glasses, or these structure of Champaign glasses that people build up on a table and where a cascade of Champaign fills one glass after the other.

Its outline could also make one think of a torch that is passed from one person to the other, from one generation to the other so that the flame never dies and the know-how and passion is handed down from one generation to the other.

This combination of two vases, or the division of a vase into two elements… is very much a discussion about the function of a vase, and the decomposition of a bouquet of flowers into its various element. A bouquet of flowers being usually composed of some structural element, branches and foliage that will either be placed around it to support and highlight the flowers, or be placed inside the bouquet in order to structure it. Here the two vases allow the bouquet to be in a way decomposed. Its two different levels give people and florists the possibility to create new logics and to surprise.

The two elements composing the vas can be used in different combinations. One into the other, or one next to the other to present two bouquets. And of course, they can also be used separately one from the other as single pieces. All these options are meant to spark creativity!

Both vases have a special graphic marking on their sides, three large stripes that have been hammered into the surface of the metal to create a specific texture. These three stripes subtly commemorate the company's 150th anniversary, each commemorating a period of fifty years, the so called and all so important golden jubilees. The hammered stripes also represent the work, investment and know-how of the craftsman that along the year have shapes the pieces made by Topazio.

These set of tree stripes on each vase also act as a graphic pattern that mark on orientation on the vases. The two vases being separate elements, one can play with the graphic lines on their sides: align them, put them in opposite directions, or hide them at the back of the vase if it is put against a wall. They give the possibility of creating an ever-changing perception of the vase and to create a dialogue between the two elements comping the vase. They will also change the reflection since they create a sort of unpolished texture on the side of the vase. They make-up about 1/3 of the external surface of the vase and are also meant to show the know-how behind the production and a to leave a mark of the people that have worked on the piece.

In order to have more presence, body and warmth both elements of the vase are double layered (at least on the sides). We made sure in the way each vase is worked at the top that this double layer could be felt. It will create a richer reflection of one of the elements onto the another, this reflection being an important part of the project. It will also again show the know-how of the Topazio.

This collection is meant to talk as much about the company and its know-how as it to talk, the passing of time and the 150 years celebration, and the idea of a bouquet of flowers and how it can be structured and approached differently and creatively. Celebrating the past while creating a statement for the future.
